Croatia is stationed on a Balkan peninsula and borders following countries: Slovenia, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The republic itself has 56.542 km2 and this number does not include 31.067 km2 of territorial waters.

The climate of Croatia various from continental in northern Croatia (winter temperatures from -1 to 3 °C, summer from 22 to 26°C), highland in central Croatia (winter temperatures from -5 to 0°C, summer from 15 to 20°C) and Mediterranean in coastline (winter temperatures from 5 to 10°C, summer from 26 to 30°C).
